Hyatt Studios to Open First Tampa Bay Location with 115 Apartment Style Suites

A four story, 115 key Hyatt Studios hotel is planned near the intersection of Route 301 and Courtney Palms Boulevard in Brandon. The project will bring apartment style suites designed to serve business travelers, relocating professionals and long term guests seeking flexible accommodations.

A permit application has been filed with the Southwest Florida Water Management District for the approximately 158,000 square foot development. Site plans show 147 parking spaces are included in the design.

The hotel is being developed through a joint venture between Pursuit Development of Albany, Georgia and Rimrock Development based in Jacksonville. The property is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2027.

Launched in 2023 by Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Hyatt Studios represents the company’s first move into the upper midscale extended stay segment in the United States. The brand features apartment style suites with in room kitchens and is targeting growing markets and submarkets where Hyatt has limited presence.

Construction permitting has also been filed with Hillsborough County. Property records show the site is owned by AC Properties 6 LLC, which acquired the vacant land in 2019.

Extended stay development remains active across the region. A recent filing with the Southwest Florida Water Management District outlines plans for two adjacent extended stay hotels in Lakewood Ranch, including a 117 room Hyatt Studios.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation signed letters of interest for more than 100 Hyatt Studios projects in 2023. Eight locations are currently open nationwide, with the only Florida property operating in Jacksonville. Additional construction is underway near Kissimmee’s airport.

Pursuit Development is also planning a 122 room WoodSpring Suites in Ruskin.

The project team for the Brandon location includes 101 Architecture and Landmark Engineering & Survey Corp..

Tourism numbers continue to support new hotel development in Tampa Bay. According to Visit Tampa Bay, October 2025 ranked as the third best October on record for Hillsborough County, generating approximately $83.41 million in hotel taxable revenue.
