Avelo Airlines is bringing a new flight to Lakeland.

Avelo Airlines Launches New Lakeland-to-Nashville Route

Avelo Airlines, a Houston-based low-cost carrier, has announced a new route from Lakeland Linder International Airport (LAL). Starting March 5, 2025, Avelo will offer twice-weekly service to Nashville International Airport, with flights available on Thursdays and Sundays.

This announcement follows Avelo’s recent investments in LAL. In July, the airline introduced seven nonstop routes from Lakeland, just a month after its inaugural flight from the airport. This expansion marked the largest route announcement in Avelo’s history. "Our new base at Lakeland provides Floridians with easy access to air travel, particularly for those who appreciate the convenience of a smaller airport,” Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy said.

According to Levy, the Lakeland base complements Avelo’s existing operations at Orlando International Airport, providing customers with "more time and freedom" to explore Florida.

Since its launch in 2021, Avelo has expanded to serve 49 cities across 23 states and Puerto Rico, as well as international destinations in Jamaica and Mexico. The airline focuses on flying underserved routes to smaller communities across the U.S.

With strong demand in Lakeland, Avelo has established a base of operations at LAL, currently housing one Boeing Next-Generation 737 and planning future expansions. To support its Lakeland operations, Avelo intends to hire team members across multiple roles, including pilots, flight attendants, ground service, and customer support.

“Thanks to Avelo Airlines, it will now be easier for travelers from around the world to experience the unique charm of Central Florida’s Polk County, where the real Florida magic happens,” said Mark Jackson, Director of Tourism and Sports Marketing at Visit Central Florida.
