BayCare Selects Robins & Morton to Oversee New St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Tampa

BayCare Health System has appointed Robins & Morton as the construction manager for its forthcoming St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Tampa, marking a key step in the health system’s multiyear expansion plan.

The Clearwater-based nonprofit health care provider confirmed that Robins & Morton will lead pre-construction management until BayCare’s board issues final approval for the hospital. Plans call for a new, freestanding pediatric facility to be completed by 2030, further positioning St. Joseph’s as a regional destination for advanced pediatric care, research, and innovation.

BayCare’s $1.9 billion capital investment program—financed in part by a 10-figure bond issuance approved last August—includes the new children’s hospital as one of its marquee projects. Approximately $338 million has been earmarked for the facility, which will rise on the St. Joseph’s Hospital campus and include enhancements to the Women’s Hospital and the main hospital. Planned upgrades feature a proton therapy center, expanded surgical suites, and other high-acuity pediatric resources.

The new hospital will bear the name of local philanthropist Sidd Pagidipadi, whose $50 million gift—made in partnership with his siblings Rahul and Srujani—underscores BayCare’s commitment to creating a world-class pediatric hub in Tampa Bay.

Robins & Morton, a nationally recognized construction firm with a strong health care portfolio, has delivered more than $10 billion in medical projects over the past decade, including complex hospital renovations and freestanding specialty centers. Its recent work spans facilities in North Carolina and South Carolina, ranging from catheterization labs to major operating room expansions.

By tapping a proven health care builder, BayCare signals its intent to accelerate one of the region’s most significant pediatric health initiatives in recent years.
